El Pais

Established in 1976, El Pais is Spain's largest circulation daily newspaper. It is a source of reference for the most influential sectors of society, and it includes sections on Spanish and International news, Society, Culture, Sports, Opinion, Business and Finance. Since May 1996, El Pais has had 11 different editions, the most recent of which is the Basque Country Edition (Bilbao); this and the Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia and Andalucia editions each contain a special local supplement. There are two European editions - one distributed in the UK, Ireland, France, Benelux and the Scandanavian countries and the other is distributed in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Eastern Europe. The American edition is printed in Mexico - each day it includes several pages with information about the whole continent, not just Latin American countries.
